The HC CERT is an integral part of the HCCA Disaster Recovery Plan and works closely with the HCCA staff in responding to events within the community.
The HC CERT follows the FEMA NIMS (National Incident Management System) and ICS (Incident Command System) protocols when responding to events in Hunter's Creek when other First Responders are unavailable (e.g. in the immediate aftermath of a hurricane). CERT members receive training and certification status from Orange County Fire Rescue Department’s Office of Emergency Management. Training includes (among others) search and rescue, first aid (e.g. wound dressing) and overall triage of issues identified during an emergency response.
